MONSTER
Slay the Princess is a choice-driven psychological horror visual novel/dating sim with dramatic branching, light RPG elements, and hand-penciled art. The Pristine Cut is the definitive version of the game. It features expanded content including 3 brand new chapters, never before seen Princesses, expansions to familiar routes, a new ending, over 1,200 new hand-penciled frames, over 2,500 new lines of dialogue, and over 35% more content overall. You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess. You’re here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world. She will do everything in her power to stop you. She'll charm, and she'll lie, and she'll promise you the world, and if you let her, she'll kill you a dozen times over. You can't let that happen. You *do* care about the fate of the world, right?

Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut is a fantastic expansion to an already amazing game. The new and altered routes fit perfectly with the rest, fleshing out Princesses that previously had short interactions. The Pristine Cut wasn’t necessary to make this a must play game, but I’m very glad it’s here.

It might be hard to see now, but ultimately, Slay the Princess – The Pristine Cut is a love story. It’s a twisted and dark one, and it features a gory multiversal tapestry. Yet it’s also one of the best Visual Novels I’ve played all year. Your choices all have consequences, and they’re lasting and real. Combine that with stunning visual and audio design, and you have a must-play adventure that’s almost impossible to put down.

Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut is a game without peers and without comparison. It’s a visual novel for players who want to stay for a long time and hear, feel and grapple with a massive undertaking. It’s not nearly as long as some visual novels, but it has a tangibility and density that makes it a meal with every single interaction. There are so many variations to discover, so many lines of dialogue performed, but you won’t even know how many until you get your first “real” ending. Now finally on console, this is a game for everyone who enjoys an excellent story, and this is a tale that must be told again, and again, and again.

Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut is a masterpiece from start to finish. Every element of the game fires on all cylinders, and it's a great example of how even something as simple as a choose-your-own-adventure story can be elevated by being part of an interactive multimedia medium. The writing, voice acting, artwork and general tone all create something memorable, distinctive and interesting. If that sounds like a game you're interested in, then try out Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut.

Slay the Princess – The Pristine Cut is a fantastic visual novel with excellent production values and a lot of dialogue options. You’ll go through a tonne of emotions (mostly unease), but you’ll always remain engaged thanks to a great voice cast and a script that is more than happy to explore uncomfortable ideas.

Slay the Princess is not for those looking to make their way through an adventure game to enjoy a tidy little story. It’s the kind of game that will get inside your head, make you contemplate ambiguous moral and philosophical matters, and leave you with unanswered questions to contemplate and answer on your own. If those types of games are as interesting to you as they are to me, you’re going to love Slay the Princess. Final Rating: 92% - Such a simple premise, such a surprisingly deep and thought-provoking game. Interested in buying this game? You can find it here.
