This game is awesome. The ending had me laughing and then in tears. Other than the reference noted above that I really wish they hadn’t made, this was easily one of the best games it has been my pleasure to play on the Switch to date. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am definitely going to be using the many autosaves from my first play through to go back and tackle some of the battles again.

Wintermoor Tactics Club is ultimately a feel-good story with fun tactical battles. It might not be the most complex strategy game out there or have the deepest plot, but it’s an enjoyable way to spend 10 or so hours.

As a fan of Final Fantasy Tactics, I really enjoyed the mechanics and story within Wintermoor Tactics Club. The short combat missions were great as they didn’t last too long yet they let you experiment with multiple character load-outs and various unlockable skills which you get as you progress in the story, keeping every new battle varied and exciting. The story which holds the game together was well-written and intriguing, keeping me hooked until the end as I really wanted to find out what was ‘really’ happening at the Academy. It’s a shame there’s no voice acting but the music created the perfect atmosphere and fans of tactical strategic games will really enjoy the mechanics during the battles. If you love games such as The Banner Saga, Braveland, Spaceland, or even the Xcom series, check out Wintermoor Tactics Club today on all platforms.

While it isn’t a perfect game, Wintermoor Tactics Club delivers a memorable cast and great presentation that does a lot of heavy lifting. Solid strategy gameplay also makes it easy to recommend, especially to those who are new to the genre as this would be a fantastic introduction for those interested in this sort of title. For those with a little more experience, the game might not be quite as interesting, but the engaging story should still seem them through this all too brief adventure.

Wintermoor Tactics Club is fine choice for those who are seeking a tactical RPG that is a bit on the simpler side. I wish the load times were better and that it had some voice acting to help pull me into the experience a bit more. Hardcore fans of the genre may find it a bit easy but I would still recommend it for the interesting story that it has to tell, the hand-drawn visual style, and the wonderful soundtrack. *Wintermoor Tactics Club is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
