Even though there's almost a complete lack of strategy required to race, some wonky visuals on the console editions, and a conspicuous lack of split-screen play, I can still offer a pretty hearty recommendation for nail'd.

The problem is that the more you play it the more you realise just how slight and limited it is as an experience. The tracks are pleasingly long, but once you've got them figured out they don't represent anything of a challenge. Rather than blocking off certain parts of the levels, a la Split/Second, they're just exactly the same with ramped up AI, or mutators such as infinite boost or no collisions. Even so, the central mechanic – it's as much about maneuvering in the air as it is about scrambling on the ground – is quite compelling, and never loses its endorphin-pumping thrill.
