All-Star Fruit Racing is a fun family-friendly multi-platform kart racing game. I had a blast playing it as it reminded me of a lower budget Mario Kart yet with its own personality and charm. The combat mechanics, when using Fruit Mode, are a little daunting at first yet once you have used it a few times, it’s actually really innovative and it actually lets you collect up to four abilities at a time or less if you wish to combine them ala Magicka style. The voices and laughing do become irritating for adults after a while, although kids may not think the same as young children usually like words and phrases being repeated.

If you're itching to play a simple kart racer then All-Star Fruit Racing is sure to satisfy. Just make sure you're ready to reach for the mute button soon after you put the pedal to the metal.

All-Star Fruit Racing is a decent enough kart racer that offers a few interesting ideas of its own but unfortunately suffers in a few areas whether it’s the awkward control scheme, confusing weapon system or even a general lack of online features. There’s fun to be had from this fruit-inspired title, sure, but perhaps a little ripening could have helped sweeten this uneven racer.

If positioned as a PSN downloadable title, All-Star Fruit Racing may have been considered a great budget offering, however launching the game at full retail release brings with it higher expectations. Where some of them are met with easy to grasp controls, plenty of customization and the odd thrilling circuit, there are a number of minor faults that sour the overall package. Uninspired music jams, slow loading and rendering of tracks can all become tiresome, taking away from what generally is a wonderful world filled with color.
