Looking at screenshots of the game, one might think they have played this type of game before, but Flat Heroes is much more content-rich and thoroughly satisfying. The challenge ramps up gradually, and there is a great sense of accomplishment in completing later levels, especially the boss stages. The final boss in World 10, Stage 15 is a special type of nightmare.

Who could have thought a game focused on squares would be so much fun? Simple on the surface but underneath its minimalistic presentation lays the beating heart of a challenging and extremely satisfying platformer. One packed with content that can be enjoyed whether you’re playing alone or in a group. If you’re on the search for a new eShop purchase then I cannot recommend Flat Heroes enough. An absolute must for fans of the genre.

Overall, Parallel Hero’s first game is a neat puzzle title. A decent difficulty curve, influx of new challenges, fresh palettes to unlock, and a truly amazing soundtrack help make the title a great experience regardless of the mode. Well designed almost entirely, the few missteps it does make thus stand out more – the lack of online multiplayer, needless locking of content, and some missing information are strange flaws indeed.
