Crossy Road Castle successfully captures the pick-up-and-play ease and addictive nature of the original Crossy Road while presenting it in a new platformer design that’s both welcoming to newcomers and engaging for experienced players. Whether you’re playing alone or with friends, there’s something in this game for everyone to enjoy. For me, it’s a game that brings together all the best elements of mobile gaming and adapts them brilliantly to modern consoles.

You won’t end up ripping out your hair with Super Meat Boy-style anguish or develop blisters from Super Mario Wonder moments of precision, but you will have a long-form romp of fun with Crossy Road Castle. If you have family and friends locally or afar, you can all don your favorite silly accessory and head out for some superb platforming that asks you not to be the best, but simply try your best: this game’s got your back, your fellow players do, too, and it’s just so nice to feel like a game is happy you’re there. In truth, it makes me very, very happy as well.

Crossy Road Castle is a fun time on console, especially with friends. The cooperative grind to get through as many rooms as possible will keep you coming back for more, but that’s about all this game offers. Overall, the content well here is very shallow, but the water it does have tastes very good. If you don’t have an Apple device to play the original mobile version, the game plays just fine on console.

Overall, Crossy Road Castle can be a very addicting game as you’ll want to beat your latest score constantly. The idea of not knowing what will come through the next door is one of the more thrilling aspects of the game. The best way to play this game, in my opinion, is to play Solo. If you’re looking for something new to play on a console, Crossy Road Castle should be on your list. Crossy Road Castle is a really fun and addictive game, in our opinion best enjoyed solo as the multiplayer doesn’t add a lot in terms of goals for the individual and instead detracting from the action. Whimsical and cutesy, the aesthetic of Crossy Road Castle is such that it really adds to the overall enjoyment of the game, with its simple but compelling gameplay.
