Stage completion time affects both boss health and rewards! Every 15 seconds, the Golden Skull will fill up a battery. If you haven't reached the Henchbot (boss) yet, it will be added to his health. After you defeat him, any remaining energy is converted to batteries you can spend on upgrades (which help you go faster)!

Bot Gaiden is a fast-paced action platformer with an emphasis on speed-running. I constantly had to consider my decisions as I rushed through the levels this game has to offer. Were those positive thoughts? Or did I want to find other things to think about? Find out in this Rapid Review. As I began to unearth all that Bot Gaiden had to offer, I was welcomed with a couple of brief cutscenes that detailed what was going on in the world.

This hand-drawn and generally fast-moving arcade action platformer has its ups and downs There’s no question that Bot Gaiden has a pretty unique overall look and feel that can be exciting, but there can definitely be a bit of a learning curve to its quirks.

All in all, this is just a great game that deserves some recognition for not only being highly enjoyable on its own merits, but also for successfully paying respectful and intelligent homage to a wide variety of retro titles.
