While countless other titles have pursued these same issues in today’s crowded cyberpunk market, Anno: Mutationem’s remarkably realized world and heart-pounding gameplay let it deliver something unique. Gorgeous to behold, exhilarating to play, and a pleasure to get lost in, this is an experience cyberpunk fans won’t want to miss. A Rhapsody in Neon Anno: Mutationem has no qualms immediately throwing the player headfirst into its world of cyborgs, mutants, and far-fetched technology.

ANNO: Mutationem is a beautiful indie pixel art game coated with a sleek cyberpunk aesthetic. It features a story that comes off as a little too ambitious but its shortcomings are made up by a refreshing hybrid 2D/3D game style filled with organic exploration and visceral combat.

Overall, it is a solid cyberpunk adventure with a surprising amount of content that I can wholeheartedly recommend for those who enjoy the genre. ANNO: Mutationem was very much a blast to play from the very beginning through to the end credits. I certainly hope that we’ll get to see more of its fun world and characters in the future, as the game left me feeling like there should be more to come!

ANNO: Mutationem is a beautiful game with good combat and decent story, marred by some unfortunate translation issues and story pacing. It’s a fantastic indie title, and for $25 is well worth your money.
