MONSTER
Timespinner is a 2D metroidvania platformer about a young woman who travels through time to destroy the empire that killed her family. At its heart, the game is a child of the great pixelated classics of the SNES and PS1 age. From the rich story worlds of Star Ocean, the expansive gothic castle to explore in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and the tight gameplay of Megaman X, Timespinner seeks to weave all of these elements into one amazing game.

Everything about Timespinner is excellent. There are only a few very minor things I personally didn’t care for, but they have no bearing on actually being negative. With an assortment of firepower, you’ll love trying out all of the orbs and jewlrey. The time to complete everything is perfect, being right around the 15-hour mark. You can keep doing new-game-plus if you can’t get enough action and become addicted to leveling up everything, which have a cap of level 999. I really would enjoy some DLC or even a sequel. It’s one of the few games of recent times that I can say that I adore. The last platformer I fell head over heels for was Owlboy.

I cannot recommend Timespinner enough. The Switch port is fantastic and the game itself is special. My biggest disappointment is not being able to back the Kickstarter project because I had no idea about it then. I know most people who enjoyed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night will likely be enjoying Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night right now but Timespinner is something you absolutely need to play. 9/10 Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Originally released on Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, PC platforms and scored 8/10 Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons from Turn Me Up Games was a very interesting game when it debuted in August 2013 on Xbox Live Arcade.

Timespinner kept me wide awake in the late hours of the night. I simply couldn’t put it down until I defeated the final boss. Luckily, tons of collectibles and a new game plus mode give me a reason to jump back in. If you’re a fan of Metroidvania games, Timespinner is a must play on Nintendo Switch. Release Date: June 4 No.

It's plain to see I adored my time with Timespinner. Its little niggles couldn't prevent me from going back to New Game Plus, or even experimenting with the level cap mode or higher difficulties. I stopped everything for Timespinner and in return I was rewarded with tight gameplay, a rich, beautiful world and all the queer representation I've ever wanted. I want more games to be like this, to tell the stories of those marginalised, underrepresented people who deserve to have a voice.

An homage to Metroidvania’s and an excellent example of the genre. While it’s been four years since it’s kickstarter, the final product lived up to the promises and is well worth checking out. Disclosure: I backed this game on Kickstarter four years ago.

Even in the presence of so many great options for a Metroidvania experience, the quality of Timespinner is strong enough to warrant interest from not just genre fans, but anyone looking for a consistently engaging and polished 2D adventure epic. Timespinner is definitely worth your time.
