Rise of Industry is such a delight and a much deeper experience than I was expecting. Almost every aspect of your budding empire can be maintained and tweaked to your personal preference, although you’ll have to give the customers what they want. Competition is fierce, and not only is the AI cutthroat, but you’ll have to properly build a transportation network to ensure traffic doesn’t slow down your profit margin. On top of that, pollution becomes a concern, and when you throw the random events and auctions into the mix, there is so much that you have to track to keep your business flourishing. While I may have built my empire on wool, nothing came between me and my desire to become the ultimate supplier of potato chips and berry pies. The game launched with Steam Workshop support, ensuring the game has a bright future due to the endless possibilities.Note: Rise of Industry was reviewed on PC.

I am confident that the game will stabilize over time but I cannot help feeling Rise of Industry should have stayed in Early Access a month or two longer. As it stands, the game is bursting from the seams with unfulfilled potential.

Overall, I do enjoy Rise of Industry, even with its flaws. I'm sure that some of my gripes boil down to things I haven't yet figured out. We could chalk it up to its unique style of management game but I am not sure if that is really the issue here. It has made leaps and bounds since its early access days and I'm thankful for the progress, but for some reason I still feel like the game could use more improvement. The concept is great and the foundation is there for Rise of Industry to be an excellent management game, but it still needs some time. At least for me. But don't worry, I'm still going to be playing this game well after writing this review! In conclusion, I'm going to give Rise of Industry a 7 out of 10.

Rise of Industry will scratch an itch for the enterprising industry builders, the spreadsheet-clutching efficiency aficionados and the capitalist megalomaniacs. But if you’re not strongly of that persuasion – myself included – it’s still satisfying to see your business empire and distribution network expand, cities thrive and balance book increase. Or, you know, heartbreaking when that doesn’t happen.
