MONSTER
A remake of the first and second Langrisser games for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Originally released on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis, the first game was called Warsong internationally while the second game was never released outside of Japan. "The orthodox tactical simulation RPG "Langrisser" series sings in the present day! Full remake of "I" & "II" as the origin of the series! We bring back various elements such as visual refinement, full voice of scenario, optimization of UI and system side, and return on the latest platform!"

A fantastic quest for any Turn-Based-Strategy fan, it should be a crime Langrisser hasn't seen more popularity until now.

All in all, Langrisser I & II is a wonderful remake, giving not only a new era of fans, but a whole new demographic of fans access to a style of game that has finally found a solid following outside of Japan. Between the two games, following the story and doing your best not to lose characters, you can expect 60-70 hours of non stop, tactical turn-based RPG that will feel like games you may already be familiar with, but will require much more thought than ever needed before.

My only main gripes come from the map spites remaining mobile-esque no matter what you do, along with the lack of any options to outright skip the enemy turns like in modern Fire Emblem titles, or an art gallery/history section. Besides that, these games are very enjoyable and well worth your time. Strategy fans waiting for a new fix, it has arrived in the form of Langrisser I & II.

Langrisser I & II is a faithful remaster that brings together two of the most important titles in the history of tactic RPGs. The updated visuals and illustrations of the collection make it accessible for new players, but the mechanics stay loyal to the originals for long time fans. Still, I would have enjoyed more differentiation between the two games because the similarities can be jarring at times. Regardless, this is a great game that offers hours of fun with unique characters and story that is affected by player-choice to dictate the tide of war. I could easily recommend it to anyone looking to scratch the retro SRPG itch. This post may contain Amazon affiliate links.
