MONSTER
Amnesia: Memories (known in Japan as AMNESIA V Edition) is a Japanese otome visual novel game. The game is a remaster of the original first game in Amnesia series, released on the Playstation Portable. Like other otome games, players will be controlling the main female character and find her love interest from various male characters from the game. The game starts when the female main character wakes up without any memory of her past or who she is. With the help of Orion, a mysterious gentleman who appears to be in her side when she wakes up, they venture the world to find her lost memory. During their journey, the female protagonist receives a call from another man whom she might know but can’t remember.

There’s not much more I can say about Amnesia without going heavy on the spoilers, and part of the reason it has been re-released on Switch is so people can experience them for the first time. However, what’s important here is that Amnesia: Memories is a well-written visual novel, and in so many ways epitomises the qualities of what you might expect from a “classical” otome game. For that reason alone, genre fans, and anyone interested in learning about it for the first time, owe it to themselves to check this game out.

Weaving a complex tale of deception and love, Amnesia: Memories is an engaging visual novel which will guarantee multiple playthroughs to squeeze all the content that it has to offer. A pleasure to play, the game gives heartfelt emotion as well as frivolity throughout, earning its status as one of the best visual novels that the Vita has to offer.

Amnesia: Memories has a great many strengths which include its fantastic visuals, high quality voice acting and tremendous replay value. Players coming in need to know that this isn’t just a fluffy, sweet otome title; there are mysteries to uncover which may reveal unpleasant things.

Amnesia: Memories is a solid Otome game that shows a fun twist to think of how dating routes go. It has great art, and characterization, though the option of choice isn’t always very impactful.

Amnesia: Memories is a decent otome, with plenty of its usual heart-throbbing twists and turns, but unfortunately, its user experience ages like a rotten apple on the Switch. I can’t count how often I became frustrated rather than fascinated by the love interests. Still, there’s a lot to be said about the insanity of the routes that motivated me to uncover this unforgettable mystery. This post may contain Amazon affiliate links.
