A slice-of-life RPG set in east Asia, Spirittea is a story about a city author heading out to a mountain town to pick up inspiration for their book. In doing so, they find a magical teapot that allows them to see into the spirit world. Strange occurrences plague the town, and it's up to the player to find and appease the spirits by rebuilding their bathhouse and managing it to a high standard in order to allow them to soak away their troubles. This then frees up the townspeople, who will look to bond with you over food, games, karaoke, fishing and bug catching, giving you plenty of inspiration for your novel!

There’s just so much to love about Spirittea, and I’m very glad to be able to say that this adorable rural-life sim has been well worth the wait. As fans of Stardew Valley patiently wait on ConcernedApe’s upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier, I hope to see plenty give Spirittea a go. It’s certainly one way to bridge the gap while we wait, but you might be pleasantly surprised by just how lovely - and truly addicting - this game and its host of unique spirits and townsfolk are. I mean, I would genuinely live in this adorable town where realities collide, if I could. My only qualm with Spirittea is with how I initially chose to play.

This is the kind of game that Xbox Game Pass is perfect at getting into the hands of players. Spirittea is a small and quirky but otherwise amazing adventure you shouldn't miss out on. Pros - + The city is surprisingly large, with plenty to explore. - + The spirits and NPCs you encounter are creative and charming. - + Over a hundred hours of playtime. Spirittea is a truly enchanting blend of life sim, management sim, and RPG, with a vibe reminiscent of Spirited Away and Stardew Valley combined. With its charming world, engaging gameplay loop, and celebration of East Asian culture, it’s hard not to fall in love with this slice of rural heaven, flaws and all.
