Soul Axiom is a really good puzzler; there’s such a variety of challenges and hidden secrets that it really keeps you on your toes, but sometimes things were a little too hidden and I just got annoyed trying to complete a level. I did always feel a sense of satisfaction when I reached an end-of-level cutscene, but sometimes it was more of a ‘Thank goodness that’s over’ than a ‘Yes I did it!’. Conclusion I both loved and hated this game; the variety of puzzles and beautiful environments always had me excited to play, but the anxiety-inducing music and too-obscure story made it very difficult for me to hit that Go button.

Much like Wales Interactive’s other VR titles Soul Axiom Rebooted elicits a mixture of emotions, joy, puzzlement and dab of exasperation. Beautiful and unnerving, Soul Axiom Rebooted has plenty to see and do, great for puzzle fans seeking an expansive experience. Yet the addition of VR does feel like a last-minute inclusion, putting you in an impressive virtual world without the ability to reach out and touch it.
