SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays is as over-the-top as you’d expect from a semi-political mech game where teen pilots bite off more than they can chew. Every mode and option is there for the player to immerse themselves into this experience, and I simply couldn’t get enough of it. I hope to see more of the SD Gundam G series come west, but for now, this is the perfect introduction for those who haven’t played it yet. This post may contain Amazon affiliate links.

There is very little to complain about with SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays because what it does, it does very well indeed, with no other game on the system to compare it against, other than its previous non-English entry. What we have here is months of content spread across an accessible, user-friendly package that will reward players who like to tinker with squad micro-management but will also let newcomers to the series enjoy the pyrotechnics display from each engagement.

SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays is both a treat for Gundam fans and an introduction to the spin-off series. It works both as fan service or a gateway to the series outside the Universal Century timeline. Disclaimer: The game used for this review was provided by fortyseven communications. While I wish there was some Universal Century representation in the game, SD GUNDAM G GENERATION CROSS RAYS is a fun and detailed tactical RPG that nails the tone of each Gundam series it adapts with its excellent visuals and exciting music. SD GUNDAM G GENERATION CROSS RAYS Developer: Bandai Namco Price: $60 Platform: PC (reviewed) MonsterVine was supplied with a PC code for review. The Gundam franchise seems like a good fit for a tactical RPG based on its concept alone.

Cross Rays still has room to improve for both presentation and gameplay elements, but the new changes result in a better game. In an era where many Gundam games are failing to improve over their predecessor, seeing Cross Rays try and succeed to be a better game is a much-needed sight. Hopefully the team at Tom Create keeps the trend going with the next one, because they have the foundation needed to create something special, especially if they make it a crossover entry.
