Remorse: The List is a game that needs to be on everyone’s radar. Some little annoyances aside, the feelings you will get from this game, with its unique atmosphere and genuine spooks, make for a fantastic horror experience.

Even with its jittery zombies and somewhat buggy nature Remorse can deliver some surprises, but it’s hard to ignore some of its issues At this point I’ve played zombie games of all sorts on the Switch.

You’ll be looking at some four or five hours in order to complete Remorse: The List and throughout that time will find a world that is interesting to explore. The combat could be more fun though, and it would have been great to have taken in a few more surprises in its setup. At least the puzzle elements are rewarding though.

I do appreciate the effort that went into Remorse: The List. The developers had a strong vision and did their best to execute on it. On a technical level, I also found it to be quite impressive for the Switch. There are much bigger games that struggle to lift to this visual and mechanical quality on that hardware. But, unfortunately, at the end of the day, this is a horror game where its enemies – which it relies on far too much to carry the experience – are more likely to make you giggle than sweat. That’s a death knell for any horror experience.

While it had some decent moments once we’d gotten into the flow of things, overall we found our time with Remorse: The List to be underwhelming to say the least. An over reliance on cheap jump scares and underpowered protagonist, this is only for those who have exhausted better horror options.
