Overview

Planet of the Eyes is an action-puzzle platformer with a retro sci-fi inspired aesthetic and a mystery-driven storyline. At the outset of the game, the player - an exploration robot - starts his search for the source of a pulsing signal on the planet. Along the way, the robot negotiates multiple dangers, solves environment-based puzzles, and uncovers the truth about the Planet of the Eyes through the audiologs of a surviving crew member. The fate of both these survivors and the planet itself will hang in the balance as the player contemplates a destiny that was meant to be unavoidable.

I love Planet of the Eyes. It’s a short game, but a perfect adventure that comes with a smart sci-fi story. The looks of the game are a beautiful homage to sci-fi comics and work really well in this platform extravaganza, all while a masterclass in sound and a brilliant voiceover help make a great game.

Planet of the Eyes isn’t going to be the next game that you sink dozens and dozens of hours into. But, if you’re looking for a game with an easily-understood plot and some fantastic writing…well, your search should stop here for an hour or two.

We really liked playing through of Planet of the Eyes. Other than a small complaint about how the game is a bit on the short side, which is not a deal-breaker, we both enjoyed its looks, fun platforming, and puzzles. The audio logs made this a very entertaining release that we highly recommend. You might be able to complete the game in 1-2 hours at most, but it does mean that there is no unnecessary content just to extend the total gameplay time for no reason. Be sure to check this game out!

Overall Planet of the Eyes is a fun puzzle/platformer with a good sci-fi push. Other than the odd jumping which does require some practice, there are no complaints from me.

Planet of the Eyes is a short but memorable trip through a weird-worlds sci-fi alien landscape. The strange creatures and fantastic environments create a nicely bizarre landscape to platform through, and the audio logs give a concise, well-acted story of a ship worker whose only friend is the AI he created.

The team over at Cococucumber should rest easily knowing they made something so vibrant and full of life. While it hits more than a few bumps towards its finale, Planet of the Eyes comes through the finish line as an excellent experience worth having. Almost like a short poem or brief jazz piece, it's an excellent way to spend an afternoon, feeling immersed in an experience that's truly one of a kind.

A 2D puzzle adventure with a colourful environment, Planet of the Eyes ignites your curiosity and you’ll soon find yourself invested in unravelling the mysteries and solving the puzzles that are (mostly) your only companions on this strange planet. Puzzles range from moving boxes and blocking electrical outbreaks to outwitting the hungry local wildlife using timing and strategic thinking.

Short and sweet, Planet of the Eyes guarantees an evening’s worth of entertainment. It’s not the most difficult puzzle platformer, but it provides enough of a challenge to stay satisfying as the player explores the mysterious world they’ve entered. Paired with some gorgeous artwork and solid writing, it’s hard not to be won over by the time the credits roll. Planet of the Eyes review code provided by publisher.

At the end of the day, Planet of the Eyes’ value depends on the type of gamer you are. If you’re someone with limited spending ability, or someone who values substance, then this may not be the title for you since it’s very short and doesn’t have a lot of replay value. However, if you’re someone who likes to have different experiences within the realm of gaming, or someone who simply likes to support solid and ambitious indie titles, then this is something to definitely look into. After all, there’s a good game here, even if it’s over rather quickly.
