It isn’t the most dramatic story, but it made me feel like a child playing a new mysterious game on SNES again. The Triangle Stars is a place I enjoyed visiting and hassling the locals was always fun. Thanks to the music, text, and imagery, Omega 6 felt like I was hanging out in a real place for a fleeting moment. Omega 6 The Triangle Stars was reviewed on a Nintendo Switch using a code provided by Clear River Games.

Outside of combat, Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is an exceedingly charming and funny adventure game. The excellent writing is accompanied by Imamura’s iconic art design and a fantastic soundtrack. While progression can stutter somewhat along the way if you can’t quite figure out exactly what it is the game wants you to do, the vast majority of your adventure is fun and endearing. While combat lets down the experience somewhat it can generally be powered through with efficient use of your bonsai tree. The rest of Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is a wonderfully stylized adventure that is certainly worth taking.

Omega 6 The Triangle Stars is an interesting title that has a fun story and unique characters that make for a stellar adventure full of puzzles and mystery, and some obscure rock, paper, scissors combat that starts fun but slowly turns into a chore that is full of random shenanigans. HOURS PLAYED: 10 PLAYED ON: Switch - Plenty of exploration within each planet as well as plenty of interactable objects. - Numerous characters to meet and get to know throughout each location. - Interesting story that constantly has the player guessing at how it will end. - Forces the player to explore every inch of a location, even after finding what you need. - Combat can get very boring after so many battles, due to repetitiveness. - Instructions from characters can both be confusing and misleading. Omega 6 The Triangle Stars was released on February 28th, 2025, on both the Nintendo Switch and PC. If it wasn’t for the tortuous combat I probably would’ve loved Omega 6: The Triangle Stars. It’s weird, it’s funny as heck, and it has ample Nintendo charm despite not being a Nintendo game. It almost feels like the team at WarioWare, Inc. made a whole game instead of a sketchy microgame. But for as much as I enjoyed exploring the world, meeting the goofy characters, and solving puzzles while uncovering the story, the overbearing presence of the worst rock, paper, scissors gauntlet ever made clouded the whole thing. I figured combat would be a silly minigame I’d run into on occasion, but instead it was a massive, unavoidable part of the equation. If Omega 6 was a pure visual novel I would’ve loved it. It’s still neat, but now I just want to read the manga when it comes out in English later this year and never look back. Omega 6: The Triangle Stars is available on February 28, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Omega 6's strengths lie in the characters and world created by former Nintendo artist Takaya Imamura, while its weaknesses are mainly due to the game built around them. Had it been shaped into a more linear visual novel those strengths could have come more to the fore, but the adventure gameplay and awkward Rock-Paper-Scissors battle mechanic get in the way at times. Its low price still makes it worth a look, however.
