Would you like to become the new Mr. Monopoly? It’s your lucky day! Our favorite Real-Estate Mogul is going on a well-earned vacation and he’s looking for a temporary stand-in. The method of selection? A race for fame and fortune. This time the rules have slightly changed. Monopoly Madness brings the Monopoly experience into the arena for the first time ever. Roam the chaotic streets of Monopoly City, collect resources, buy and upgrade properties, mess with your opponents, and avoid their tricks to win the race for riches. This is madness!

On the bright side, the core concept of Monopoly Madness is shockingly good, to the point where I can recommend it at the right price. I really dig how fast-paced it is. It’s a worthy party game through and through — with a twist I haven’t quite seen before — and from that lens, I’ve been having a blast. A little more budget could have gone a long way, so I’ll be curious to see if this is a one-and-done project or if Ubisoft will explore a follow-up.

Monopoly Madness provides frantic, fun family action backed by a healthy selection of content and multiple ways to play with others. You can enjoy multiplayer online or locally, just keep in mind the limitations for team play.

Ultimately, Monopoly Madness is a novel twist on the Monopoly formula, which can be fun to play in short bursts. But it doesn’t quite scratch the itch of playing the classic board game.
