Hyper Jam is the perfect couch game with some friends, or a palette cleanser from other denser AAA titles. It will definitely stay in my rotation of games to play with my buddies whenever I have the opportunity. This lightweight arena brawler is a stylish delight.

Despite its simple premise and familiar aesthetic, Hyper Jam delivers an intense, fun experience that we really cannot recommend enough. This is a game PlayStation owners should pickup. Hyper Jam is a competitive game split into two modes.

Despite the lack of content Bit Dragon has made a fun new multiplayer arena game in Hyper Jam. Anyone can pick it up and play and things like the perk system and weapons help keep things different enough as you play round to round. Even more importantly is how good it looks and sounds while doing so. I probably won’t be playing it long by myself but whenever I have some people together it will be on that local multiplayer list of mine for consideration. *Hyper Jam is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Despite some occasionally poor bot behavior, there’s a lot to like about Hyper Jam. This is every bit as addictive as it is exciting, with accessibility and short-burst functionality serving as forefront aspects. The game’s fluid and fast-paced action sits well alongside the game’s unique perk stacking system, with each and every passing round becoming more tense and frenetic as a result. If you’re looking for a new arena brawler, this is one to consider. This game was tested and reviewed on Xbox One.

It’s a game for a living room full of friends or to play in small sessions online. The perk system is nice and does lead to close, manic and very tense matches. If your in the market for a local arena brawler that does offer something different, Hyper Jam will keep you entertained. If you are looking for a deep, all-encompassing game to eat away your free time, look elsewhere.

I enjoyed my time with Hyper Jam but I don’t see myself going back to it unless they add some new modes and weapons. The shallow unlock system and lack of weapons in particular really hurt the replay value. Once you clear out all of the achievements, which you can knock out in less than 3 hours, there’s little to return to unless you and your buddies are bored one night and want to punch each other until someone falls in front of a train.

Hyper Jam is a great game, but it’s a shame that more creative game modes aren’t included here. The one mode that is included is quite robust, but it’s almost as if Bit Dragon put all their eggs into one basket. I can’t wait to play Hyper Jam at our next game night, but there’s perhaps not enough here to keep me coming back beyond that.
