This latest game has some good ideas and I do love a good twin-stick shooter but unfortunately this game falls short and the gameplay becomes stake very quickly. The game looks great and runs well but doesn’t manage to capture the essence of what make the franchise so enjoyable. If the game had more depth, deeper story and meaningful gameplay it could have been so much better. I would suggest playing the game in short bursts and I’m sure younger gamers will still enjoy getting to play this game after watching the recent Ghostbusters film. REVIEW CODE: A complimentary Microsoft Xbox One code was provided to Brash Games for this review.

Ghostbusters is one of those games that is completely forgettable. A decent concept that works most of the time, with the overall presentation bogging down the whole experience.

Ghostbusters offers a top-down co-op shooter with light RPG elements that fails to capitalize on the magic and humor of the supernatural franchise. Revisiting old franchises has become a staple of the summer blockbuster season for the last few years (with Jurassic World making a boatload of money last summer) and many of those classic franchises also have strong roots in the world of video games.

Demanding $50 for Ghostbusters which is clearly designed as a much smaller title is unforgivable and honestly, approaching fraud. People expected this to be an expansive experience but you end up with a download which is the exact opposite of what the trailers and interviews publicized.

Again, it’s not horrendous like the NES effort, and it’s a little more capable than Sanctum of Slime. But this Ghostbusters lacks any sort of charm or, worse yet, any reason to see it through to the end. Plus, its $50 price tag is a real turn-off – especially when the 2009 Ghostbusters game can be yours for a fraction of the price.
