F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch
It is a metroidvania game that the player will play as a rabbit who can manipulate the big mech-arm on his back, exploring in a vivid diesel punk world and fighting against the evil robot army. There will be a vast world map for the player to explore to meet with friend NPCs and encounter enemies, discover items and weapons and seek for the answers for the secrets hidden behind.

An excellent Metroidvania adventure with intense combat, rewarding exploration and a visually immersive dieselpunk world. 4.8 Hop, Skip, Punch F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch, the inaugural effort of Shanghai-based game developer TiGames, is one hell of an introduction. After an under-the-radar release on consoles late last year (and a PC launch later), I thought it was time to check out all the fuss behind the B-movie-esque title – and I’m very glad I did. With backing from major publisher Bilibili and PlayStation’s China Hero Project, F.I.S.T.’s presentation and polish is nothing short of exemplary, and it constantly surprised me from start to finish. F.I.S.T is an action-adventure Metroidvania game with all of the genre’s staples – a large, interconnected world map, 2.5D side scrolling platforming, non-linear progression and lots of tantalizing gates and secrets blocked off until you acquire special tools, weapons or abilities, which encourages that ever-addictive formula of memorising blocked areas to return later for goodies.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch came from out of nowhere and captivated me with its fantastic controls and map design. Even if its story and voice acting can be a bit dull at times, its presentation and gameplay more than make up for any budgetary setbacks found along the way. If this is what we should expect from metroidvanias in this upcoming generation of games, then F.I.S.T. has already set the bar very high and for that I’m thankful.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch is an exceptional game. With innovative visuals that ooze charm and imagination, you will immediately fall in love with Torch City. The extensive combat system allows you to experiment with the mechanics to create some incredible combinations. Although the game is challenging, it never feels cheap, making you return to battles with new tactics and strategies. Perfectly paced and with plenty of surprises, TiGames has created something special that is a must for fans of the genre.
