Core Keeper

Core Keeper is a surprisingly deep and satisfying game to both new and older players of the genre, and it has something for everyone. You can also play up to 8 players in one world and divide up the tasks. Its not unheard of that you have one dedicated to base building, while others explore and gather materials etc. I have fully enjoyed my time with the game since the start of early access and will come back to it similar to how I always eventually do another playthrough of Terraria.

Core Keeper is the perfect introduction to crafting games, setting a new standard in approachability for the genre through clever game design. It also serves as a focused collection of staple genre mechanics that results in a near-perfect experience. Over time, I foresee this game earning more reasons to play it and it looks like the developers intend to support the game through steady updates.

There’s so much I could talk about with Core Keeper, but it’s the sense of discovery that really makes this game so special — and going in not knowing exactly what you might encounter feels like sort-of the point. But if you have a taste for adventure, enjoy carving your own path and don’t mind figuring things out for yourself, you’re going to have a whale of a time. This review of Core Keeper is based on the PS5 version of the game, with a code provided by the publisher.
