Coast Guard is a game that gets a lot of things right, but at the end of the day, feels rushed. It’s very jarring to go from the beautifully crafted water scenes to something like an interrogation scene where the characters are stiff and lifeless.

Although somewhat far fetched, Coast Guard’s storyline can be rather captivating and adds a refreshing layer to the game. However, it gives the impression that it doesn’t really know what it wants to be, without the depth to a full ship simluator and with some lacking gameplay during the investigations.

Coast Guard is strongest when it is doing ship operations and after that, it tends to get bogged down in a quagmire of oddity.

Not detailed enough for a simulator and not fast paced enough for an action adventure. Coast Guard is a game that needs to decide what it wants to be.

Coast Guard struggles to keep its head above water and offers very little to keep you going back for more.

While it's more disappointing than bad, Coast Guard's overall quality doesn't justify its current £14.00 price. It tries mixing the replication of real life scenarios dealing with maritime law enforcement, along with a lot of detective work, but it fails both ways in doing so. The simulation part is almost non-existent, and the detective one an uninteresting and slow-paced fetch quest - and if that wasn't enough, the various bugs, almost broken controls, and badly implemented game mechanics are more than enough reasons to throw this back to where it belongs: the digital ocean of shoddy video games.
