Bleeding Edge on Xbox One is just pure fun. It’s a tight, fast thrill-ride that keeps me playing which, as someone who predominantly plays single-player, is not easy to do. While it certainly isn’t what some fans of Ninja Theory may be expecting, it is still a great first collaboration from what will likely be one of Xbox Game Studios’ finest teams.

A fun multiplayer brawler hampered by some lag issues and a lack of game types. With an update or two to iron out the kinks, this utterly charming game could go from good to great.

Bleeding Edge isn’t the game I expected from Ninja Theory but definitely the game I wanted to see out of this studio. Seeing the developer behind DmC: Devil May Cry go out and create something creatively different just makes me really happy as someone who is part of this very niche audience. Bleeding Edge is available for Xbox One and Windows PC.

When all is said and done, Bleeding Edge does feel like a side project for the developer. While it does feel that way, there are some extremely redeeming qualities of it. The aesthetically pleasing style and the unique personality of the characters shine through the gameplay. Even though content is a little light, the game is half the price of a usual game, and it’s free on Xbox Game Pass. For what is available, the game is a lot of fun, and despite the slow progression, there’s always that feeling of “one more game” lingering. With more content on the way, the game could easily build into a much bigger augmented beast.
