Fans of classic survival-horror must not miss White Day: A Labyrinth Named School. It may not look like much, but it uses its limitations to enhance the uncanny ambiance. The chilling scares make it the ultimate Halloween game. White Day: A Labyrinth Named School was reviewed on Nintendo Switch using a copy provided by PQube.

Yes, White Day is an older game, but as far as the horror genre goes, and how it's evolved into something I place little value in, that’s actually a benefit. Given how few people have even known what this game is to date, the extra exposure that it will get from a re-release will mean that, hopefully, a new legion of fans will discover it, because it does deserve that. It’s a masterpiece in building tension and in the way that it plays within the classical approach to horror, without relying on jump scares and endless bloodshed.

It’s scary. Like, really scary. But what may be the scariest thing of all, is the fact that you’ve probably never heard of it. So I implore you to change that. Sharpish. White Day: A Labyrinth Named School (Reviewed on PlayStation 4) This game is great, with minimal or no negatives. It’s scary.

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is still a game I’d strongly encourage for anyone who enjoys a good survival horror game, and misses the days when horror was about disempowering players and using that to inspire terror. It’s still one of the scariest games on PS4. I just wish it had been able to fully capitalise on its setup – the way I’m told the original game did – to deliver a truly terrifying game from start to finish.
