Victory Heat Rally is a game that knows exactly who its fanbase is, and it does everything in it's power to deliver a fun and captivating experience. The game is setup in a way that is inviting to newcomers to the arcade racing genre, but also with challenges that will even give long time veterans a run for their money. It's a game all about honing your skills, but it also features modes for all skill levels. It is an inviting yet challenging experience, and that's a fine balance a lot of games fail to achieve... Yet Victory Heat Rally managed to pull it off! As for the gameplay itself, there is something really satisfying about watching the cars glide down the tracks, and drift around each turn.

All in all, Victory Heat Rally suffers from a handful of issues, but what really matters is that it is a really fun and easygoing arcade racer. It’s not exactly meant to make you think very hard: just pick a course, pick a racer, and have at it with its intuitive drifting controls and adorable graphics. There isn’t too much of a reason to continue playing after the career mode is done, but it’s worth a shot regardless, especially if you can play it on the Switch or a device like the Steam Deck.

The result is fun enough while it lasts, but is never wildly exciting enough to ensure you'll come back to it time and time again after the Championship mode is completed. Given the age of the Switch, there are now many racing games, including several with some sort of retro-inspired art style, all fighting for players' attention, and while Victory Heat Rally does a good job of positioning itself in the front half of the pack, it lacks that extra boost to push it into contention for a podium place. As such, once you’ve played through what it has to offer, it doesn’t really have anything that will have you choosing it over any of its competitors any time you fancy a quick race.
