Tyler: Model 005
Tyler: Model-005 is a 3D action-platformer and exploration game set in the 1950s where you control a spunky miniature robot named Tyler. Many years after being shut down, Tyler is accidentally powered up during the height of a thunderstorm. You set off with Tyler to discover why your creator is missing and what has happened to your home, which is now overrun with robot-sized rats, cockroaches, and more.

Reversed Interactive bring us the slightly oddly titled Tyler: Model 005, the story of a robot. Not sure if I need to read up on robotics, but rest assured that’s not going to happen. Time to put my I into this AI and go on an adventure. Gameplay Set in the 1950s, Tyler: Model 005 suddenly gets booted up after a rather long period of down time.

Tyler: Model 005 is a real mixed bag. It doesn’t get close to the heights of its spiritual predecessors, but instead goes its own way to produce a surprisingly effective and heartwarming story that surpasses the limitations of its flawed mechanics to leave a lasting impression. Tyler: Model 005 must go down as a fleeting curio rather than a game I can wholly recommend. Maybe in this case an animated movie would have been a more suitable choice for delivering the story being told. Score: 5/10 PC version tested.

Tyler: Model 005 is simply a bad game. Good graphics cannot hide the multiple issues: bad voice acting, poor combat and crucially, terrible platforming. In a game where platforming is a major component it is imperative that jumping works, and here it does not at all. In fact, this may well be the worst example I’ve ever seen.

Don’t be fooled by the store’s slick images, Tyler Model 005 is a terrible game. There’s not a single quality that I can praise the game for outside of its somewhat competent upgrade and cosmetic system. This is the very product of lazy, rushed and sloppy development, making for an ugly experience that’s riddled with bugs, poor optimization, frustrating functionality, and heaps of loading screens, throughout. This game was tested and reviewed on Xbox One.

When it comes to 3D platformers, Tyler: Model 005 is likely the worst one that I've ever played. The premise and mix of mechanics are definitely promising but it all comes together to make an absolute mess of a game.Tyler: Model 005 gameplay video → Flood of Light Review Switch ★★★☆☆ Relaxing puzzle games are a great way to wind down after a particularly rough day.
