Overall, Tunche is a nice, well-blended mixture of beat’em up and rogue-like gameplay that’s easy to play alone or with friends. Though it feels like a bit of a slow grind to progress, it will provide an ample challenge, even for veteran gamers. Plus, the Amazonia jungle themed, hand-drawn artwork is absolutely impressive and stylish. And who doesn’t love Hat Kid? Punch your way through the heart of the jungle to find Tunche!

Tunche may not rewrite its formula, but it does something just as significant—it adds a new dimension to it. Its Amazonian setting populated by fantastical creatures is a breath of fresh air in a genre clouded by grimy urban streets.

Tunche has some performance issues, but it more than makes up for it with its presentation. The combat is thoroughly enjoyable and complex. The visual style and animations are a complete joy, and the rogue-lite elements are incredibly generous and motivating for players to continue run after run. Tunche is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up that takes you on a rogue-type path through the Amazon rain forest. It has beautiful art to complement its diverse characters and enemy animations with a good amount of RNG to keep playthroughs fresh. It demands a lot from single players with lots of grind and lack of clarity, but it’s by no means impossible to overcome.
