Trails of Cold Steel 2 might not be a flawless title, with its few cheesy story moments aside, the game never lets down the strong momentum it built up from the predecesor. Falcom has proven time and time again that it can make an engaging JRPG, which while sticking to the norms of the genre, is polished enough to stand out from the crowd.

We are getting another strong entry in The Legend of Heroes series thanks to Trails of Cold Steel II and a strong follow up that takes everything the first one did right and making it better. I’m really excited to see where things go in the next entry, because after writing my he Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II review I’m certainly ready for more!

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II is a modern JRPG masterpiece. It is the perfect blend of the classic JRPG formula mixed with contemporary features.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II is a direct sequel in a time where that is exceedingly rare, and a very welcome one at that. The original Trails of Cold Steel was a great game that was under appreciated, and this sequel brings all of the same charm and quality from the first and does more preserving than improving. With some slight improvements and great source material, Trails of Cold Steel II is a no-brainer to add to any JRPG collection.

Trails of Cold Steel II is a marvelous addition to the series. It carries the tone of the original perfectly, continuing a saga that sees its third installment hit later this year, while at the same time delivering an exciting story all of its own. Though it offers a backstory catch up in the main menu, the best way to experience this second instalment is to play the first.
