Testament: The Order of High Human is one hell of an achievement of a game made by a team of 15 people. It has all the best parts of the RPG genre with some new features that just keep you coming back for more. This combined with a gripping story and inspired world design, you’ll have a hard time putting the game down. Things just get better with the odd puzzles you’ll find and the literal mountains of lore to be discovered. This is one of those games that you just have to take your hat off when you consider the detail and the developer team size but also, The Elder Scrolls has some serious competition now.

I ended up enjoying Testament: The Order of High-Human quite a bit, despite being a game suffering from a myriad of design issues. Thankfully, it didn’t suffer from a lot of technical issues. What we ended up getting was a decent first-person action adventure game with good controls, an interesting combat system, and a big emphasis on puzzle-solving, even if those sections go on for way too long at times. The overall game feel was just good enough to make me ignore the pointless story, poor voice acting (kudos for the effort, though) and loathsome boss battles.

Testament: The Order of High Human is just a bit dull, with the game’s combat and puzzling proving repetitive and uninspired throughout. Nothing about the game is awful, but it was rare that I found myself buzzing when facing a challenging encounter or satisfied after solving a drawn-out enigma. It’s just all a bit meh, with nothing about the game feeling interesting enough to make it stand out when compared to all of the other (and far better) first-person fantasy adventures out there.
