While Road Rage is too uneven to be a true Road Rash successor, it captures enough of the fun of motorcycle combat that made those games great. If you can ignore the dumb story, drab visuals, and lame soundtrack and just enjoy the smooth racing and brutal combat, you're bound to have a good time. Pros: - Smooth arcade-style racing. - Beat up opponents and pedestrians from your bike! - Lots of different race types. Cons: - Open world elements are underdeveloped. - Generic rock soundtrack has a sedating quality. - Drab color palette makes the game dull to look at. Road Rage costs $29.99 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam. - See on Microsoft Store (opens in new tab) - See on Steam Xbox One review copy provided by the publisher. Paul Acevedo is the Games Editor at Windows Central.

Despite its flaws, there is some enjoyment to be had playing Road Rage. There is a nice variety of race modes to keep things interesting and I kept chugging through the story mode until an overtly difficult mission stonewalled me.

Road Rage is like one of those terrible low-budget straight-to-video movies that occupies the shelves of your local supermarket: you know it’s rubbish but you can’t quite help but be bemused by it. The dialogue is cringeworthy to the point where it’s actually quite entertaining, and while the vehicular combat is broken there’s still some fun to be had racing around and buying new bikes and upgrades.

The repetition and painfully irritable audio had me moving onto my next title that much quicker. If I were to give a few pointers to the team in the hopes to reclaim my attention, I would say a bigger diversity in mission types and more content, perhaps, no, definitely a better sound team on hand for the future. I don’t normally give bad reviews, normally I can find a little something to keep me going, sadly however not this time. It was a shame too, I’ve been so looking forward to the potential new Road Rash, maybe I just need to try more of the game but it’s just not winning me over.
