Pistol Whip’s multiple difficulties and modifiers like Deadeye and Dual-wield add depth to a game that’s more addictive and satisfying than Beat Saber. The 15 scenes included at the time of this review are all in the same general musical style and a bit of variety would be nice, but that might be coming with future updates. Pistol Whip is the game that brings me back to my VR headset again and again and I expect to keep playing through every update Cloudhead has planned for it. Pistol Whip is available starting today on PSVR for $24.99. For more on how we arrived at this score, read our review guidelines.

Pistol Whip is likely to be the PlayStation VR game of the year. It’s simple concept works incredibly well and has few faults. If you’ve ever wanted to be John Wick, or any other badass gun-wielding gangster for that matter, this is the game for you. Modifiers and multiple difficulties extend the life of the game even further, although this may not be enough for some. Once free content updates and extra DLC tracks arrive, though, there’ll be plenty of content to enjoy. Pistol Whip PSVR review code provided by publisher.

Among all of the PlayStation VR titles available today Pistol Whip would rank near the top of the must-play titles. On-rail shooters don’t usually appeal to me but the way Pistol Whip combines physical movement, vibrant visuals, and a pulse beating soundtrack is masterful.

It’s safe to say that Pistol Whip has quickly become one of our favourite PSVR 2 titles. Who doesn’t want to feel like Neo in The Matrix, dodging bullets left, right and centre? Or John Wick, spotting and dispatching enemies with a combination of shots and melee attacks? Basically, Pistol Whip allows you be Keanu Reeves: the epitome of cool. And so, for anyone picking up PSVR 2, this should be considered a must-have.

Pistol Whip is super cool, and the best way to play it is on PSVR2. Not only do you get the most optimized experience on PSVR2 in performance, you also have a plethora of ways to play the game, with thirty tracks to enjoy. It’s a perfect pick for something both unique and familiar for VR enthusiasts picking up a PSVR2.
