While it’s not the longest game, I feel VR games shouldn’t be too long due to eye strain and fatigue. I found myself not wanting to stop playing which says a lot for a VR title. Highly recommended especially on PlayStation VR2.

PSVR has seen some excellent titles over the years. Blood & Truth, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Superhot, Walking Dead Saints & Sinners and the first Moss title are just some of the games that spring to mind when discussing the best experiences on Sony’s headset and Moss Book II is another one to add to that conversation. A fitting swansong for PlayStation’s debut headset.

Moss: Book II is a genuinely emotional, surprisingly creative, and incredibly gorgeous follow-up to its critically acclaimed predecessor. Book II takes the themes and gameplay ideas from the first title and nearly perfects them and in doing so has created a longer, more difficult, and more fulfilling adventure for Quill.

With the stakes higher than ever, Moss: Book II reveals a series of earth-shattering revelations in its seemingly small-scale tale. Quill is challenged more than ever to the point against a slew of tougher-than-ever enemies. Containing heightened narrative beats that will pull at your heartstrings, this sequel is not pulling any punches. To forge an unbreakable bond with a most valiant rodent is Moss’ ultimate goal, and it achieves that goal decisively. For the fans who anxiously waited four years for the conclusion to this story, it is clear it was worth the wait.

As stated before, not much has changed in Moss Book II, making it an iterative sequel that keeps all of its strengths along with a few more bells and whistles. About the only remaining weaknesses are the spare enemy variety and combat; though there are a few new bolstering additions for both, they still serve as hors d’oeuvres while the platforming and puzzles make up the main dish. Nevertheless, anyone who enjoyed the first game need not hesitate to continue the adventure, while newcomers may want to consider starting off with the first game as the sequel is more of a complimentary package rather than a replacement; in the olden days, we’d use to call this “Disc 2”. Regardless of order, anyone who opted early with Sony’s new VR headset needs to make sure their paths end up right at the newest entry in Quill’s adventures (and hopefully not the last).
