Broken Pieces caught my eye as it seemed like it had the potential for a fulfilling single-player adventure. After spending quite a lot of time immersed in multiplayer games recently, this promised to be a welcome change of pace. Broken Pieces has a narrative that entices players to solve the mysteries of Saint-Exil and the cult that has taken residence. While simple combat might make the title a slower play for most, anyone who loves puzzles and riddles will enjoy their time in Saint-Exil and want more. I really enjoyed my time playing Broken Pieces. It’s an engaging sci-fi adventure game with an intriguing story. The pacing of Elise exploring Saint Exil as well as the time loop element was great, especially the alarm clock reminding me of Groundhog Day. Some of the objectives did feel like filler but with fresh game mechanics such as weather, managing daytime and more as part of puzzles the game kept my attention. I did find some of the textures around town disappointing, especially in the segmented areas but key areas and landscapes/scenery looked fantastic.

The mixture of exploration and puzzle solving is solid but the unsettling weirdness of its location and story is what makes Broken Pieces a must play for all point and clickers out there.Become a Patron! This game was reviewed based on Xbox S|X review code, using an Xbox S|X console.
