MONSTER
Welcome to Breakpoint, a twin-stick slasher that provides all the hectic action of a bullet hell with the crunchy satisfaction of melee combat. Unlike other twin stick games, there are zero ranged attacks in Breakpoint. You have to control the battlefield with a variety of physical attacks. Slice, smash, and crush your way through waves of enemies to defeat the swarm. Move and groove your way through each weapon skill tree building up to powerful AOE attacks to truly level the playing field. Reach new levels of digital carnage with the upgradable lethality of your weapons - become the ultimate champion and claim the high score by trying different combos and patterns. You can also check out the highest scoring runs instantly from their position on the leaderboard, anywhere in the world! Keep an eye on how your weapons are doing because once they break, the explosion can be a major tactical advantage.

The core of Breakpoint is a fast-paced arcade experience, and the game absolutely nails it with addictive gameplay and eye-popping visual effects. I know people still like arcade games because they keep buying old ones repackaged. Breakpoint costs just under five dollars, so why not make some new nostalgia instead?

Breakpoint, while small in content, has a single focused but entertaining game mode that I ended up playing over and over again. I ended up being totally on board with the idea of a space ship having a giant axe. If you love your retro style space shooters this is a coffee game worth checking out.

In many ways, you may think that Breakpoint is probably the most generic title in gaming history. It doesn’t look very appealing and its gameplay is as shallow as a puddle. Yet somehow, it works. It’s so simplistic and carefree to the point of becoming freeing. There’s just something about slashing tons of colorful enemies onscreen that makes me feel entertained. In short, Breakpoint is one of the least innovative games I’ve played this year, but considering its fun gameplay loop and minuscule price tag, I can’t help but recommend it to everyone out there.
