Arizona Sunshine Remake is a fantastic VR shooter with some brilliant combat mechanics and an immersive atmosphere. It’s a little short, but that’s par for the course for VR games. It won’t overtake the sequel in terms of quality and depth, but it’s an entertaining few hours of zombie-slaying goodness, and with the various improvements made by Vertigo Games, it’s well worth a second dip for those who have already played it. Arizona Sunshine Remake was reviewed on Meta Quest 3 with a code provided by the publisher.

Vertigo Games has made a fantastic remake here. All of the updates, DLC packs and fixes found in the sequel are all here in one great package, and I wish my original experience was more like this when I played the first release. I was unable to revisit the original due to not having a PSVR system when they finally decided to patch things up. I am so glad I was able to check Arizona Sunshine Remake out as it has completely erased my original experience. This is a great title for the PlayStation VR2 (and other VR platforms) and should more definitely be in your library alongside the fantastic sequel. G

Arizona Sunshine Remake feels like a modern VR title, despite first releasing in 2017. Though relatively short, Sunshine provides an exciting, fast-paced, zombie shooter filled to the brim with intense situations, great gunplay, and humorous dialogue. The addition of horde mode and two DLCs certainly add value, though one DLC fares better than the other. Still, as an overall package, Arizona Sunshine Remake is well worth the cost of admission.

Arizona Sunshine Remake successfully modernizes a VR classic while maintaining everything that made the original special. The improved visuals, refined mechanics, and included DLC make this the definitive version of an already excellent game. Whether you're a newcomer to VR or a veteran who played the original, this remake offers enough improvements and content to justify another trip through zombie-infested Arizona. It stands as both a great entry point to VR gaming and a worthy predecessor to its excellent sequel.
