Once upon a time, arcade shooter gamers where you have to fend off impending waves of an alien menace, was all the rage, but while retro may be old, it is never forgotten. So, inspired by an arcade classic, Super Destronaut DX is retro space shooter that pits you against an enemy more dreaded than a UFO, a scoreboard. With multiple modes and high-scores that can be attained by yourself and players all over the globe, this is one game that will put you on the path of achieving as high a score as you can possibly muster.

Super Destronaut DX is somewhat of an improvement. While the solid gameplay and music is still present, the variety of modes is much larger. The title isn't overly difficult, particularly for a veteran, but it is fun time waster that I have no problem turning on. Online leaderboards ensures that it has a bit more longevity, something that was incredibly lacking in the Wii U game. The presentation hasn't improved too much sadly, and it is more irritating than it should be. In any case, if you are in need of an arcade style game, you can do far worse than this one.

Super Destronaut DX is a nice modern take on the 80’s classic Space Invaders. The game focuses on quick, fast-paced scenes as you slaughter the enemy ships with your standard gun or one of the various upgrades which drop when you defeat a boss ship. The challenges will keep you entertained the longest, with their ever-increasing difficulty and challenge. The other modes will also offer you a decent amount of enjoyment as well, unless if you’re simply looking at trophy hunting.

Super Destronaut DX is a fine little package offering a variety of modes and a modern presentation for a classic style. It's nothing too complex, but a fun time.
