I’ve had an immense amount of fun with R.B.I. Baseball 19 — something I couldn’t say of the previous entry. I have to give MLBAM credit for improving the game significantly for the 2019 version of the game.

R.B.I. Baseball 19 is probably never going to match the polish of one of PlayStation’s flagship franchises. But, for the first time ever, it’s solid enough that baseball fans who just have an Xbox or a Switch don’t have to feel totally left out for yet another year. RBI Baseball 19 delivers a solid arcade style Baseball experience with refinements to the overall experience. It runs better than before, the visuals are improved and they've made an effort towards further realism.

While there are improvements across the board, R.B.I. 2019 still falls short of being a must-have baseball outing. It's fun without being deep, and the lack of online play will be unforgivable to many players. It also struggles technically, which is a shame given that it's hardly the most visually stunning Switch title. Still, if you like the sport then go ahead, buy it and enjoy a game of baseball. Slap a few whoppers. Dominate a Home Run Derby. Have some fun. Just don’t expect that fun to last; you’ll get fed up quickly and become envious of those dastardly PS4 owners.
