Obduction is fantastic for anyone looking to find that old Myst feel. It starts off a bit rough, perhaps partially due to it being on a console as opposed to PC, but it certainly picks up back into that familiar vein.

However weak the ending is, it was the journey that made the biggest impression on me. In that regard, the game is positively sublime. It’s the “aha!” moments that come with completing a puzzle - the feeling of success is truly a wonderful thing.

It’s a special thing when a game gifts you a superior experience without traditional or prescribed story mechanics, and from that perspective Obduction prevails completely. Some of the puzzles and paths can become overused and tiring after a while, but on the whole it stretches the mind in the right ways.
