There you have it, a gritty, brutal roguelite to add to your ever growing collection. I really enjoyed my time playing Kiborg, no I wasn’t amazing at it but that’s the beauty of the game, it rewards you just enough for progressing. After each death you encounter you think “I got this, one more try”, to the point where that “one more try” becomes 2:30AM on a work night without even realising. It’s fun, addictive and the cybernetics give that extra flair to keep it interesting. Why you should try the most brutal, crazy, unpredictable show on Cable Galactica? - Gritty and brutal gameplay. - Looking for something new and addictive. - You’re a glutton for punishment. Why you might just stay in your cell? - Not a fan of roguelites/roguelikes. - Prefer a bit more of a story. An early access review code was kindly provided by Sobaka Studio for the purpose of our Kiborgs Review.

Kiborg may not have the polish of a big-budget title, but it nails the fundamentals. Gritty, addictive, and unapologetically brutal, this is one roguelite that knows exactly what it is and is able to deliver on that. HOURS PLAYED: 8 PLAYED ON: PS5 - Satisfying melee and ranged combat - Clear and rewarding progression - Cool visual design with varied enemies - High replay value - Weak voice acting and flat narrative - Limited world-building - Low-res UI textures For more Thumb Wars Gaming coverage, check out our KIBORG build guide, or the best tips and early strategies for mastering KIBORG.

KIBORG is a huge leap forward from Redeemer for Sobaka Studios. I had an enormous amount of fun smashing my way through freaks and mutants, trying out all the different weapons and implant combinations. I just wish the levels were longer and you had more chances to get the implants you wanted. Each attempt consists of 15 (I think) arenas. With 7 of those being Implants that only leaves a few spaces for weapons and mutations to play with. Any fans of old school brawlers will adore KIBORG, and it’s well worth checking out Sobaka Studios’ earlier brawlers while you are at it. Gamer Social Club was supplied a copy of KIBORG for this review. KIBORG was reviewed on Xbox Series X and will also be available on PlayStation 4 & 5 PC (via Steam) and Xbox One and Series X/S Make sure you follow The Gamer Social Club on all our social channels BlueSky, X, Facebook.

Kiborg has crunchy combat and a fantastic sense of adventure to its progression system. Anyone looking for a character action game that delights in the absurd should give it a try. That said, you will need to be content to deal with the unfinished nature of some aspects. This game was reviewed based on Xbox S|X review code, using an Xbox S|X console.
