House Flipper is one of those titles that you just don't expect to be as good as it is. Seriously, play this videogame.

While I’ll eventually grow bored with this title, it hasn’t happened yet, even with 50-plus hours combined between my wife and I playing. I still have perks to unlock and properties to fix and sell. House Flipper is much better than expected and will keep you busy for a long while, even longer once the game is updated. Review: House Flipper (Nintendo Switch) Great While I’ll eventually grow bored with this title, it hasn’t happened yet, even with 50-plus hours combined between my wife and I playing.

House Flipper was an absolute joy to invest my time in. When I say time, minutes literally become hours. The game consumed me with its huge versatility in tasks, properties to invest in and the range of decisions and choices you can make. The financial juggling and being responsible for your own empire is wonderfully satisfying. If you’re one of those who adores starting on a fresh canvas in games like The Sims then there is something for you here.

House Flipper makes you feel like Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen as you masterfully change a house into a home. Although there is a lot of repetition and monotony involved with each proceeding task you’re hired to perform, due to you basically doing the same thing over, and over again, the entire experience is surprisingly therapeutic and relaxing. Once you buy your first house, this is where the game truly begins as you’re free to do whatever you want with the tools provided – perfect for people with creative minds. You’ll easily sink upwards of 10-15 hours into the game before you’ve even realised it. It’s unfortunate that some DLCs aren’t in this edition, although I’m hoping that they release at some point in the future.

It seems a little silly to gush about a video game that simulates housework but given the added amount of stress and anxiety that has crept into my life lately, House Flipper is a wonderful way to shut out the noise of the world for a little bit. House Flipper on Xbox One is a wonderful surprise. It does not have the deepest gameplay, but it sucked me right in. It may not be a game I remember for years to come, but it will surely stay installed on my Xbox One so that I have something quiet and calming to play the next time I feel the need to be alone with my existential thoughts.

That’s about it for the game; it’s all a loop. The end goal for most is to buy your own vacant home and fix & furnish the way you like. But even that will begin to wear thin. With that said, there is something inherently relaxing about the whole ordeal. To me, something is soothing about doing menial tasks like cleaning. It must be something to do with there being a definitive start and endpoint. Add in the fact that they throw in a percentage meter letting me know when each room has been 100% cleaned, and it’s Viscera Cleanup Detail all over again for me. House Flipper is the perfect game to play when you need to distress from the day and one that is good to chill with. It may not be the most engaging game, but it sure is one that hit my inner needs.

House Flipper’s Farm DLC is a unique and more quality-of-life addition to an otherwise engaging game that can keep you busy for hours. While there are some obvious bugs, they don’t detract from the overall gameplay but they can still be annoying for those just starting. You can still unleash your inner creative demon and find your style in this home design simulator game.
