It’s amazing that a visual novel of the prestige and impact of Fate/Stay Night would be released almost without fanfare, but that’s what’s happened with this. I’m not sure we were even made aware of its impending release until a day or two before it landed. It’s the latest chapter in a game that has a long history of being a massively influential success despite the best efforts of everyone managing it. And I would argue that this tells you more about its raw quality than anything else.

A great starting point for Fate fans, and a beautiful remaster for existing ones. Though it suffers from the wordiness that plagues Nasu's earlier work, it's a beautiful and compelling story of ideals, reality, and magic. - To this day, I wonder about the people who bought Fate/stay night thinking it's an eroge and then getting hours upon hours of fantasy exposition.

Fate/stay night Remastered is an excellent official English debut for visual novel and Type-Moon fans worldwide after a two-decade limbo of existence. The well-implemented script, gorgeous 16:9 visuals, and in-depth customization options make this debut of the Fate series its best iteration yet. The Good - Strong Visuals - The remastered effort is strong here, with newly implemented 16:9 visuals making this presentation of the iconic visual novel the best bar none. - Excellent Script - Fans and newcomers won't have to worry about the script's translation quality here, with there being evidently meticulous care poured into every line of dialogue and monologue, even if a certain name choice may anger some. - Customization Options - Despite the lack of free button mapping, the various settings here regarding the audio and text are quite in-depth, offering numerous avenues for players to experience this classic. The Bad - Mixed Pacing - While all three routes are fantastic in their actualized intentions, Heaven's Feel is the odd one out with its haphazard pacing, especially during its second half.

I had a great time with Fate/stay Night Remastered. With such a compelling narrative, and truly excellent character writing, it’s easy for me to understand now how Fate became such a widely beloved franchise. The remaster provides a great entry point for people like me who are experiencing this story for the first time. I’m excited to get deeper into the series, and particularly to experience more stories featuring these characters. The bottom line is that Fate/Stay Night is a keystone work in a genre that’s never been more popular on our side of the globe. For decades, it seemed like this historically important (and good as heck by itself anyway) visual novel would never be readily available and professionally localized like this. Anyone with an interest in anime, gaming, and alternative forms of digital storytelling owes it to themselves to check this story out. It’s one of the all-time greats, and if you do take the time (and it does take a lot of time), you’ll easily understand why Fate is such a big deal nowadays. And if this is your first time, welcome to one of the most absurd, yet rewarding rabbit holes you can dive into. Fate/Stay Night Remastered is available now for the PC and Nintendo Switch.

All in all, Fate/stay night REMASTERED is a flawed masterpiece landmark title in gaming. If you’re a fan of visual novels, fantasy, or want to start the Fate franchise at the very beginning, this is your chance.

While the upgraded graphics look amazing, and the adaptation to English and Simplified Chinese are great things, there isn’t anything else to make the game “Remastered”, For this is a visual novel, and there aren’t any mechanics or anything to remaster as the games mostly dialogue and visuals. While the price isn’t the worst, for a remaster with no real added content or value versus the original, it is hard to justify the remaster versus finding the original for cheap. However, in my opinion, the story itself is one of the top visual novels I’ve played and helps this game score high. Developer – TYPE-MOON, fuzz inc. Publisher – Aniplex Inc.
