From plowing to harvesting to selling your products, Farming Simulator 23 invites players to take control of their own farm to build an agricultural empire! The latest edition of the internationally acclaimed Farming Simulator franchise opens a whole new chapter: More machines from real brands, two maps, new crops and animals, seasonal visual effects and production chains offer seemingly endless open-world gameplay in a familyfriendly environment. Players choose the kind of farmers they want to be, whether cultivating fields, logging with forestry equipment, or tending to farm animals such as the newly added chicken. Production chains extend the business allowing players to sell products like bread, olive oil or furniture. The improved tutorial mode, AI helper and the new auto-load feature for logs and pallets support the players in their farming career.

Farming Simulator 23 is a well-executed title for what it is, and it even offers touch screen support for handheld players. However, it’s the type of game that’s best appreciated when you’re in the right mood. If and when that moment strikes, it can serve as a good, if somewhat repetitive way to unwind. The game provides plenty of incentives to keep you engaged, including two distinct environments.

Farming Simulator 23 scratches the same sort of itch as previous games in the series, but it's maybe not as effective has the more substantial home releases. There's enough here for a player to initially sink their teeth into, particularly when the game's portable focus is considered, but that depth does disappear relatively quickly. Even so, there's still something deeply satisfying about its farming gameplay loop, and those after a relaxing experience will find one here. While there’s no doubt it simulates farming with multiple big pieces of equipment well, it lacks in solid guidance and new flavor When you get a new iteration of a particular relatively humble series on a yearly basis, especially when the price point is hardly peanuts, it seems fair to have some expectation of growth or evolution of some kind to shake things up.

It’s a nine-year-old formula running on six-year-old hardware, and neither of them can elevate the other. One of them must change, and Giants is probably the one who needs to blink first if it hopes to pull off another portable Farming Simulator in 2025.
