It’s super fun, engrossing, punchy and just absolutely awesome. I give this game an 8.5/10 With super minor flaws like the story and characters, but this still absolutely skyrockets to one of my favorite roguelikes out there! Those were my thoughts on Beat Slayer! Thx For Reading! Keep doing great things! You’re good at them.

The ‘90s badass tropes will wear thin very quickly, but they won’t stop you coming back for more. Beat Slayer is a thoroughly enjoyable rhythmic romp that is both fun and deceivingly addictive. With an exceptional soundtrack and mix-and-match gameplay with something for everyone, you’ll be saying “Just one more run” until the wee hours.

Beat Slayer is Hades meets Hi-Fi Rush and it lives up to its name of slaying some brilliant tunes. A superb art direction blended with intense, frenetic rogue-like action and a pumping techno soundtrack make this a mixtape worth digging out the headphones for. It’s not a perfect record, owing to a lighter story and the odd combat quirk, but it’s one worth having in the collection. Beat Slayer is available on April 24th for PC via Steam (review platform). For roguelike fans with rhythm, Beat Slayer will no doubt prove to be a bit of a treat. It has a beautiful art style, a soundtrack that will get your foot tapping, and gameplay that draws you in and holds your attention like a vice. It perhaps doesn’t do anything new or original outside of incorporating a rhythm element, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Just put some headphones on, start a new run and enjoy busting up some robots to the beat. This review of Beat Slayer was facilitated by a code provided by the game’s publisher.

I have no doubt in my mind that I’ll return to the synthesised tunes of Beat Slayer, albeit in a sporadic fashion; as compelled as I am to keep playing, I can’t see me spending day after day replaying it. Beat Slayer thrives on being played in short, energetic bursts. But no matter how long I go between another run, I will always be a slave to the rhythm.

Whether busting robot heads or jamming to the tune, Beat Slayer promises a good time, even if a lack of versatility makes it a little stale. Pros - Engaging Gameplay - Captivating Art style - Easy-To-Learn Rhythm Cons - Overly Basic Level Design - Lack Of Versatility - Unpleasant Dialogues You’ve played rhythm games, and you’ve played action games, but what about rhythm-action stuff? I’ll be honest, this particular hybrid genre was something new for me.
